Systematic office furniture by TecnoThe Italian furniture company Tecno works with international architects, artists and designers. The company was founded in 1927, and has been managed under the name Tecno by designer Osvaldo Borsani (1911-1985) since 1953. Borsani studied architecture in Milan’s polytechnic, where he also received his doctorate. Shortly afterwards, he founded Tecno. Later, he handed over the management to his brother Fulgenzio. Designers and architects such as Norman Foster, Rafael Moneo, Claudio Bellini, Justus Kolberg, Gae Aulenti, Renzo Piano, Shigeru Iwakiri, Ricardo Bofill, Piero Lissoni and Eugenio Gerli create system furniture and design sanitation and furnishing objects. Projects such as the European parliament in Brussels, the underground station in Düsseldorf or the auditorium in Taormina, carry Tecno’s signature. Early furniture creations from the company’s founder, such as the armchair P40 were included in the Tecno collections, the tables T1-T2 followed. In 1968 the office system GRAPHIS was successfully brought onto the market. Filing cabinets, room divider systems, tables for conference rooms and desks rounded the collection off. Shortly afterwards, designer Borsani brought out ARMADIO, RIUNIONI and Modus. The flexible tables, made of wood, covered with leather, varnished, veneered or made of granite, which belong to these office collections, also enjoy extreme popularity. In 1984, Norman Foster created the furniture system NOMOS, which went on to win several prizes. The company’s trademark are the telescope legs. Armchairs, sofas and organisational furniture for the office area were awarded important prizes and strengthened Tecno’s position in the international market. Tables, such as T147 by Emilio Ambasz from the year 1971, with eight drawers under a glass plate on top of an under frame of satined stainless steel, served as a model for many of today’s new design objects. Further information about Tecno’s collection can be found in the Proformshop. Buy Tecno products |
